Beth Hunter leads the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation's Sustainable Food Systems Initiative. She has spent twenty-five years working at the intersection of the environment, economics and social change, with a particular interest in food issues. She loves to seek (and sometime find...) levers for systems change, and to create spaces where people connect, learn and collaborate deeply. She holds an MSc in Rural Economics from Laval University (food security and dietary diversity) and is a Fellow at the Academy for Systemic Change.

Hayley Lapalme is a systems thinker and facilitator who has spent six years working with institutions and municipalities to create more resilient food systems. She has convened organic farmers in Barbados, social business leaders globally, and designed dozens of participatory workshops across Canada. Hayley has a head for complexity and leads with the aim for alignment between the things we believe and the things we practice. She holds a Master of Adult Education and Community Development from the University of Toronto.

Food Secure Canada
Jennifer Reynolds is the Institutional Food Program Manager at Food Secure Canada. For the past two years she has been learning about changing food service operations and procurement practices along with 8 institutional food projects. She believes that aligning mission, mandate, and margin can transform systems, and that delicious food will drive innovation in healthy eating and sustainability. Jennifer has 15 years experience in community food security, local food promotion, and food policy.
Nourish DESIGN RESEARCHER/COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGIST
Cheryl Hsu is a design researcher and strategist, with experience spanning healthcare, food systems, higher education, and arts & culture. She is curious about everything, but passionate about ethical innovation, civic empowerment, and systems change through human-centred design and participatory design research. Cheryl is a MDes candidate in Strategic Foresight and Innovation at OCAD University and is also the co-founding director of Madeleine Co. a Toronto-based art collective.

Jamie Gamble has served organizations involved in poverty reduction, environmental protection, food security, public health, and citizen engagement with consulting in strategy, evaluation and organizational change. Jamie has the rare ability to work with people on complex issues to uncover the essence of their most pressing challenges and to surface productive ways to move forward. He is the owner and principal of the New Brunswick based consulting company, Imprint Consulting Inc.
Co-Director, Sustainable Food Lab
Hal Hamilton founded and co-directs the Sustainable Food Lab. He advises businesses, helps design and manage collaborative projects, and supports leadership development. Hal is also a founder of the Academy for Systemic Change and a Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He began his adult life as a dairy farmer and still makes hay and maple syrup.
Senior Indigenous Research Fellow and Ambassador, Suncor Fellow, The Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience (WISIR)
Melanie Goodchild is Anishinaabe (Ojibway), moose clan, and a member of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation in northwestern Ontario. She is a fellow of the Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience (WISIR) where she lectures and is completing her PhD. Melanie is currently Senior Counsel, Indigenous Relations at the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) and has taught several courses on indigenous learning and reconciliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Lakehead University, and the Banff Centre’s 2016 Reconciliation Summit.

Carole St. Pierre dedicated 35 years of her life to her career, chiefly as a food services and clinical nutrition manager in hospitals and as a project manager implementing food policies at the Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux du Québec. Now retired, she is interested in championing healthy, sustainable eating.

She has been an HR management consultant and executive for forty years working in virtually every sector of the Canadian economy, focusing primarily on issues of pay and employment equity and with a specialty in large scale mergers and culture change.

Dale Schierbeck is a learning and development professional with more than a dozen years of experience leading education programs in healthcare. Personally passionate about food and its importance to community and health, Dale also leads CHA Learning, HealthCareCAN’s professional development division which “develops people – in service of health.”

Wendy Smith has worked in the institutional food service industry for over 25 years. As a Contract Specialist with the MEALsource team, Wendy brings hands on healthcare nutrition experience. Through several projects over the past five years her work has focused on the food system in Ontario and the role that public sector institutions can play in making public dollars work harder for the public good.

Linda Varangu is Executive Director at the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care. She brings her passion for a healthy planet to the health care sector where she is also able to promote healthy sustainable foods. The Coalition drives leadership in environmentally-sustainable health care practices enabling hospitals, long term care and other facilities reduce their environmental footprint.
Purchasing Manager, University of British Columbia
Victoria Wakefield is known in procurement circles as the 'queen of green,’ for the years she has spent incorporating ethics and the environment into purchasing policies, previously for the City of Vancouver, and currently for the University of British Columbia. She has 20 years in the public and private sectors, is a Certified Professional Purchaser and member of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada.
National Director of Healthy Food in Health Care, Health Care Without Harm
Stacia Clinton, RD. LDN., Is the National Director for the Healthy Food in Health Care Program of the global non-profit organization Health Care Without Harm. She guides local and sustainable institutional purchasing through their network of over 550 facilities nationwide and serves as an adviser to the organization on the impact of diet on individual and environmental health.
